| General 29.03.06 Town’s Business Association Moves Towards Company Status After five years during which the Association has seen a three-fold increase in membership, steps are now being taken to ensure our voice is even stronger in the future. At a meeting of the Main Board of the Huddersfield Town Centre Association on 9 January 2006, the Board approved a proposal to dissolve the HTCA and create a company limited by guarantee – the Huddersfield Town Centre Partnership Limited (HTCPL). A Limited Company will provide a stronger image of greater permanence and greater confidence, help entrench the commitment of key stakeholders and ensure members’ liability is limited. The proposal was supported by the Regeneration Cabinet of Kirklees Council at a meeting on 25 January. Clr Andrew Pinnock said that: “The Huddersfield Town Centre Association has been a model for other towns to follow.” HTCA Chairman, John Eastwood said: “This will provide a new level of confidence in our ability to help direct the future prosperity of our town. Company status should attract many new businesses who recognise that our combined voice is much stronger in influencing key decisions and making things happen.” The Annual General Meeting of the Association will be held on 30 March 2006, at which the proposal will be considered by the wider membership. If the dissolution of the HTCA is approved at that meeting, the HTCPL will then be formed on 1 April 2006. Further details can be found on: www.huddersfield-htcpl.co.uk (top) Tidy trader/In Bloom 17.05.06 Huddersfield Town Centre Partnership launches the fourth annual Tidy Trader Competition. Everyone receives either a gold, silver or bronze certificate with the overall winner receiving the Civic Society trophy and plenty of publicity.” Kirklees Street Wardens visit the entrants during the summer and look for “that well cared for feel “, clean windows, and paintwork, nice signage and window displays etc. Confidential feed back is given after each visit. Festival organiser, Cathy Burger said ‘Every year we have tried to encourage community groups to take part in the festival, however the cost of hiring the marquees and equipment has often put groups off.
