Christmas Shopping and Parking Times
Late Night Christmas Shopping
The town centre shops will be open until at least 8pm with most major retailers including all of Kingsgate open until 9pm on the 13th, 20th and 27th November and 4th, 11th and 18th December.
The Market starts its late night shopping from Thursday 4th December and is open every Thursday thereafter until 8.30pm.
Sundays 10.30am – 4.30pm
Most shops are now regularly open. Other shops and Queensgate Market will open on Sundays from 30th November onwards.
The weeks leading up to Christmas

Please note the parking signs around the ring road as they will advise you where parking is available.
Even at the busiest times parking is normally available at Cambridge Road car park and on Saturdays, parking will normally be available at the St Andrew’s Road car park. On Saturdays and Sundays in December, parking is available at the University car park off Wakefield Road.
There will be free parking on street and in all Kirklees controlled Car Parks after 4pm on Thursdays from 13th November until 18th December.
On Sundays, parking will be free all day from 30th November until 21st December on street and in all Kirklees controlled car parks. This year the Bus Station car park will open at 10am on the Sundays of free parking.
Remember that car parking is free on all bank holidays in Kirklees, so no charges are applicable on Friday 26th December and Thursday 1st January.

The real ice-rink returns to Huddersfield with outdoor skating in the heart of the town centre. Whether you’re an experienced skater or fancy trying it for the first time, bring your family and friends down to the Piazza and join in the fun.
There are a number of special sessions running each week, from Beginners’ Sessions with a group instructor on weekend mornings to speed-skating every Friday night. And if you like dressing up, make sure you don’t miss Thursday evening themed music nights where skaters in fancy dress skate for half price.
